Grade & Age Level Placement

NFVB Grade Levels and USA Volleyball Age Levels

Niagara Frontier feels that participating at your grade level allows more of our players to participate on teams with their peer groups. This also places players on teams with similar "years" of experience and maturity levels.

All players must tryout at their academic GRADE LEVEL for the current academic year (2024-2025). The staff will notify any players who fall into an alternate (older) division based on USA Volleyball restrictions.

The club directors may allow individuals to attend an alternate age group at the second tryout as per the club's "Play-Up" policy in the Club Handbook. This policy also governs players who may need to tryout at a grade level below due to their USAV age. Please notify Coach Rocco or Coach Dan prior to Tryouts if you feel you should be placed on a team "older" or "younger" than your current grade level for any reason (date of birth or skill level). If you attend the wrong tryout, you risk not getting the fairest evaluation at tryouts.

Tryouts for any players in 6th grade or younger will now be facilitated by the TCP Academy. Info on those programs can be found at The Champion Project Academy

Please note that The Champion Project Academy offers two levels of participation.

  1. Travel Teams - players must register and attend tryouts to make one of these teams. Click HERE for a description and to register.
  2. House Teams - players do not need to attend tryouts but do need to register.  Space is limited so spots are available until filled.  Registration for House programs opens in mid November.
