Nationals are underway and NFVB has three teams competing (13-1, 15-1, 17-1). Brackets and results can be found on the USA Volleyball website: here.

Updates:

13-1

Below are the results for the 13-1 team. They finished 4th (of 6) in their first pool, then won their second pool (of 3) to place them in contention for 25th through 32nd place in the tournament. A tough loss in the crossover match (28th vs. 29th pool position) gave them top seed in Flight 3. On their final day, they fought their way through two 3-game matches (including a 17-15 victory in their final match) to claim 29th place (of 48) in the national division. Congratulations to our 13-1 team.

15-1 finished 4th (of 6) in their first pool. They finished 1st in their second pool, earning a crossover match like that of 13-1, in which the 15-1 (27th) played the 30th seed for the chance to enter either Flight 2 or Flight 3 for the final day of competition. After dropping a tough two-game match, 15-1 secured a spot in Flight 3, entering their final day of competition challenging for 29th through 32nd place (of 48) overall in the 15 national division of USAVB nationals. They dropped their first match in the Flight 3 bracket on their final day, and finished their nationals run at 31st (of 48) in the National division.

Great job, ladies!

17-1

17-1 went 3-2 in their first pool. This resulted in a 3-way tie for 2nd place. Unfortunately, the tie-breaker procedures causes NFVB 17-1 to come out of that 3-way tie with a 4th place finish in their pool. They went 2-0 finishing first in their second pool, and then dropped a tough crossover match which put them into Flight 3 for their final day. On that final day of action, the 17-1 team cleaned house, finishing 28th overall (of 48).

A big congratulations for a group that worked so hard over their years with NFVB. We look forward to the return of many of these players for their final, senior club season, next year. And to our seniors on that team, who have now concluded their high school/club careers and will be in action as college volleyball athletes in the fall, we wish you good luck and thank you for your years with NFVB. We hope to see you back one day, as an alumnus, working with the club.

This Sunday marks the first Junior Beach Doubles event held at the BNCC. As interest in the outdoor game continues to spread across the country, the staff at the BNCC felt the need to build 4 top quality sand courts adjacent to the parking lot. These courts have housed the outdoor “OAces” volleyball leagues which have been running for the past 6 weeks as well as a few great adult events. The courts went in just after most of our NFVB teams were finishing up the season.

On Sunday BNCC will host the first sand 2′s tournament open to all junior players ages 18 and under. One division for girls and one for boys. A number of teams have already signed up in each division and there’s room for more. A few of our NFVB players have been playing in the adult leagues and getting ready for the summer tournament series which can be found here.

Sunday, June 27
8:30 am check in – 9:00 am start (walk ups are welcome that morning if room is available)
Cost is $25 per player

PRE-REGISTER for this weekend’s event today and join us for a great day of fun in the sand. Get yourself partner, tell the boys you know to enter a team and help spread the word!
