All of NFVBs junior players have the opportunity and should be certified as scorekeepers and/or officials. Annual officiating clinics are conducted to certify the players.
Quick Information:
- If certified between 12s and 15s, athletes remain certified until they are participating on a 16s team. At that point they need to recertify.
- If certified between 16s and 18s, athletes need not re-certify for the remainder of their juniors playing career.
- For the sake of clarifying rules and changes, NFVB may, at its discretion, still require players to attend annual refresher clinics.
- No player is certified in an area (i.e., scorekeeping or down officiating) until she: completes the certification clinic (about 1.5 hours) AND has an official sign her certification form after she has successfully worked a match in the area for which she is attempting to be certified (i.e., she must work as both a down official for one match and then as a scorekeeper for another match, if she is attempting to be certified as both a down official and a scorekeeper).
A copy of the scorekeeping powerpoint from the 09-10 clinic may be downloaded by right-clicking here and then clicking “save as.” Players are asked to review the PowerPoint information if they have questions.
