The 2017 Erie Volleyball team’s success was driven in big part by the play of a number of former Niagara Frontier athletes.  Six of Erie’s seven starters played their club ball for Niagara Frontier.

Lynn Cleversley, Julia Reed, and Sidney Schindler, who have a combined 15 seasons with Niagara Frontier were the driving force behind Erie’s 21 wins this past season.  Erie plays in one of the toughest Junior College regions in the country and they stayed in the Top 3 all year long.  “We can attribute a lot of our success this year to the knowledge and experience of our club athletes.  Niagara Frontier prepared our athletes to play at this level better than anything else could” says Coach Craig Starzynski.

Lynn Cleversley (West Seneca West) was All-Conference 1st team, All-Region 2nd team and finished her career at Erie with the most digs and the most kills by any setter in Erie’s storied history.  Sidney Schindler (Springville HS), was named All-Tournament team twice and Erie’s MVP.  Julia Reed (West Seneca East) was All-Conference 1st Team and ranked among the best liberos in the country.

“Here at Erie, we try to identify athletes for our program who not only have the skill and speed to play at the collegiate level, but we especially look for athletes who have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the game.  Niagara Frontier brings out the best in local talent and we’re grateful so many Niagara Frontier players decide to wear Erie’s Black and Red every year!”
