After two tournaments, the 18 Navy team has accumulated 33 set wins and only 2 set losses.   It has been truly a team effort.  The team has shown incredible resilience which was on display this past weekend at the Volley FX Finals against VFX 18’s.

The Niagara Frontier team came back from a 24-26 first game loss to win the second in strong fashion 25-18.  To follow that, they fought back from a 12-9 deficit in game 3 to win the 32 team tournament by 15-12.

This has been a tremendous run and is a testament to Niagara Frontier’s leadership and player development.   Ball control has been led by Libero Katie Becht, Sam Logan and Summer Slade.  Julia Kurowski has shown her leadership in every facet of the game, as one of the teams 6-2 setters, and also a major contributor to the offense from the right side.  Liz Chow has shown off her tremendous defensive skills and quickly connected as the second setter with the diverse attacking group.  Summer Slade, Sam Logan and Lauren Chadwick have displayed a level of attacking consistency and explosiveness on the court that has been preached for the first 6 weeks in the gym.    Middles Julia Carter and Jenna Caskey have provided significant offensive in the middle with a fast attack that has given the team an edge every match.   Serving has been one of the teams strengths with every athlete getting their chance to pressure the opponents receiving prowess.

We are proud of the focus and the results that the girls have found on the court.   The team is ready to take on competition from all over the east coast with tourneys in Columbia, Philly and Boston coming up over the next two months.   If you get a chance to see these young ladies play, you’ll see an excited and dedicated group looking to end their Niagara Frontier careers on a strong note and prepare for their collegiate adventures!!!
