Kicking Off December!

Read about what our December quote of the month means to NFVB staff and donate new toys to our toy drive before the 20th!

We’d like to say welcome back! We are thrilled to have everyone back in the facility and coming together to be on the same team. We would like to introduce our “quote of the month” we’d like to focus on in the month of December.

As Leo Buscaglia once said, "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." These words ring true not only in our personal relationships but also in volleyball. We are part of a sport where the smallest acts of kindness and encouragement can make a huge difference in a person’s experience.

It’s time for us to rediscover the power of these small acts of kindness. The volleyball community thrives on support and encouragement; even the smallest gesture can turn someone's day around. Whether it's a pat on the back after a tough play, a smile from a teammate, or a coach's kind words at the end of practice, these moments can make all the difference.

But it's not just about receiving kindness; it's also about giving it! Being a kind and supportive teammate, coach, or supporter (whatever your role may be) can greatly impact a team's dynamic and overall experience. We must listen to one another, offer encouragement, and celebrate each other's successes. When everyone feels supported and valued, the entire club benefits.

Leo Buscaglia is right: the small acts of caring and kindness we offer each other have the potential to turn a life around. In the world of volleyball, these acts can make all the difference in creating a positive and supportive team environment. So during December (and preferably the rest of the season), remember that the power of a touch, a smile, or a kind word can go a long way. Who knows - you might just be the one to turn someone's life around.

In honor of giving season and relative to our December quote - NFVB will be hosting a toy drive. If you or anyone you know is looking to give away new toys, please bring them to any practice in December and drop them off in the main foyer at The R.O.C.K. We will be delivering these toys to WNY Foster Closet at the end of December. The last day to drop off toys will be Friday, December 20.

WNY Foster Closet requires all toys to be brand new and in their package, so please be sure this is in the back of your mind when donating. If you have questions regarding the toy drive, please visit their website or contact Jess at jkranz.nfvb@gmail.com
