Tryouts

Tryout Attendance and Tryout Fee

Some clarification on TRYOUT FEES:

In order to complete the two steps below, there will be two separate fee payments that need to be made.

$40 is the club registration fee to get your players name in our system and to cover costs incurred for tryouts.

The $15 Tryout Membership fee covers players for insurance during the tryout period. If the player makes a team, the club pays an additional $54 to get them a full membership for the rest of the season.

Purchase a Tryout Membership - You cannot purchase this until July 1 - We will send a reminder email!

Players that were members last season were covered until their membership expired at the end of August.

To register for tryouts, please complete BOTH steps 1 and 2

STEP 1

Note:

WHEN YOU REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS, PLEASE DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A SPORTS ENGINE ACCOUNT

IF you don't know your Sports Engine ID and password, please go to this link

IF you do not have a Sports Engine account, then please create a new account.  For directions, go to this link.

STEP 2

NFVB Grade Levels and USA Volleyball Age Levels

Niagara Frontier feels that participating at your grade level allows more of our players to participate on teams with their peer groups. This also places players on teams with similar "years" of experience and maturity levels.

All players must tryout at their academic GRADE LEVEL for the current academic year (2023-2024). The staff will notify any players who fall into an alternate (older) division based on USA Volleyball restrictions.

The club directors may allow individuals to attend an alternate age group at the second tryout as per the club's "Play-Up" policy in the Club Handbook. This policy also governs players who may need to tryout at a grade level below due to their USAV age. Please notify Coach Rocco or Coach Dan prior to Tryouts if you feel you should be placed on a team "older" or "younger" than your current grade level for any reason (date of birth or skill level). If you attend the wrong tryout, you risk not getting the fairest evaluation at tryouts.

Rocco Lucci - Girls Director

Dan Johnson - Boys Director

How Do We Select Players?

The Girls and Boys Club Directors make the final decision on all roster placements with input from the coaching staff.  Selection for Niagara Frontier Teams will be based but not limited to the following criteria:

1. Player performance during tryouts (skill level, effort, interaction with coaches and other players, athleticism)

2. Athletic potential and development

3. Attitude, Attitude, Attitude

4. Level preference

5. Player evaluations from last year or previous club experience

6. Past history of parental involvement or behavior

We typically post final rosters one week after tryouts.  Exceptions will be made and noted on the website.
